The “Cargirl” phenomenon
Previously, cargirls (car girls) were depicted in magazines and posters, lightly dressed in front of sports cars.Pure models booked for photo shootings and intended to please the predominantly male target audience.
Over time, women established themselves with interest in the car. Whether it was love of design or fascination for technology, due to clichés they were mocked by male friends.
Because even in 2019, when we first researched for this page, there were about 400,000 posts on Instagram under #cargirl. Almost all of them fell into the model category.
From Cargirls for Cargirls
Transparency is our priority. We are cargirls who want a change in the car scene and a great community.
Our mission is to create a belonging and a point of identification through our platforms and merchandise. For this we focus primarily on working with other Cargirl companies and groups, because together we can much more.
The car scene in change
But a lot has changed over the last seven years. To our surprise, we found that the two million photos now mostly show women in everyday outfits.
Of course, among so many contributions, there are also the classic models and influencers for whom auto-affinity is a job. And that’s totally okay. We don’t care about appearance and number of followers – here only the passion for cars counts, because that’s what a “cargirl” makes.
Women are not against men
To be sure, at first it may seem that Cargirl communities would want to exclude men.And yes, we also focus primarily on women and female readers.
But a peaceful, open tuning scene ultimately benefits everyone.
First, however, it needs spaces for women where they can exchange with like-minded people. These include communities that specialize in this group of car lovers, without “it’s just fun”, “don’t dress like that” and “as it looks, it’s also looking for blinking fluid.”
Yes, the attitude towards tuninggirls is slowly changing, yet, as our members regularly experience, we are far from equality. men can help and move forward with good example to be a model for change in the scene.
A shared hobby – individual style
Tuning is a choice of style and so Cargirls have natural different tastes. Whether it comes to color, depth, wheels, details in general of the brand and model of their own car, the tuning world could not be more diverse.
Some have a large budget, others can’t put thousands of euros into their vehicles. The one optimize performance and body for motorsport, the next prefer driving comfort rather than racing track.
Following the motto “all cars are beautiful”, we find colorful mixed buildings of all brands and construction years in our community. We respect each member and give Cargirls the merited recognition for the time and effort they put in their hobby.
We build a community where these people can share their stories and connect with each other. We want them to feel safe to talk about what they like without being exposed to hatred or discrimination.
